Bali Bomber: Did Britain Train Him?
THE bomb attacks that killed at least 25 and injured 100 on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali yesterday are feared to be the work of a terrorist who trained at a British university. The co-ordinated attacks which ripped through at least three restaurants popular with Western tourists may have been the work of bomb-maker Azahari Husin, the expert behind the bombing that claimed 202 lives on Bali nearly three years ago to the day.
Fo Warns Britons to Stay Out of the Area
BRITONS were advised by the Foreign Office last night not to travel to the region affected by the bomb attacks under any circumstances. A spokeswoman for the department said it was sending an emergency deployment team from Hong Kong and supplementing this with staff from London.
Firing Squad for Captured Bomb Gang
THE mastermind behind the 2002 attack on Bali, Mukhlas Imron, was sentenced later to death by firing squad along with four other conspirators. Since then, however, the group responsible, Jemaah Islamiah, has been tied to at least two other bombings in Indonesia, both in the capital, Jakarta.
THE explosions on the paradise island of Bali yesterday are likely to have been the work of a group closely linked to Al Qaeda, and a bomb-maker who studied at the University of Reading. Now known as the 'Demolition Man', Dr Azahari Husin, 46, studied at Reading during the late Eighties and obtained his doctorate in engineering in 1990.
