Serbia were powerful in defence but wasted the few chances they created and were never comfortable dealing with Robben. He scored the only goal of the game when he beat the Serbs' offside trap to run on to Robin van Persie's volleyed pass and slid the ball under the advancing Dragoslav Jevric.

But Holland failed to build on that start.Van Persie sent a diving header straight into Jevric's hands and saw his brilliant free-kick evade both team-mates and the goal, while Wesley Sneijder shot wide from Robben's pass.
