Mrs J. R. writes: I received an annual statement for my Abbey Isa and it showed that Pounds 300 had been withdrawn at Abbey's branch in Fulham, in south-west London. I have never been to Fulham in my life - I live hundreds of miles away in Northumberland. I telephoned Abbey and was told that with all the security measures the bank has in place, it was impossible for anyone to take money from someone else's account.
Eventually I travelled 25 miles to my nearest Abbey branch, where an adviser repeated that such a withdrawal was impossible, but did call Fulham and was then told that someone there had entered an account number incorrectly, bringing up my account instead of the real customer's.See the full content of this document
