THE king of self-pity is at it again. On American TV he bleated about his subjects: 'I only hope that when I am dead and gone, they might appreciate me a little bit more.' Well, he is not dead but he is gone, and watching him bundle around his quaking wife on the current 'Un-Diana tour' makes us see just exactly what we are missing. The bemused and laconic reaction of many Americans underlines just how pointless his presence is.
His declared purpose is to encourage more Americans to visit Britain, as if a glimpse of this middle-aged, dowdy couple will get them on the plane.
