Summary

The musical Crazy For You (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, London) **** is perfect late-summer family entertainment. It is a version of George and Ira Gershwin's 1930 smash Girl Crazy. The show's new-ish book is by Ken Ludwig and Mike Ockrent, who have cherry-picked hits from the Gershwins' back catalogue into a mish- mash of a Thirties jazz show that has great charm.

The Nineties West End version was a slicker, more expensive affair, with better tap-dancing. But it was not more engaging than this. The sensational I Got Rhythm - the amazing first-act closer - should have audience members dancing all the way to the bar, elbows flailing.
