Born to an Irish father and Hawaiian mother, George Freeth is the unsung hero in the history of 20th century surfing.
Freeth popularised the sport of surfing in Hawaii and then moved to California where he spread the gospel up and down the west coast of the US, in the process inventing modern life-saving techniques, becoming an Olympic swimming coach and winning the Congressional Medal of Honour.See the full content of this document
