The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings has knowledge of historic listed buildings which are in danger and in dire need of restoration, if you would like something quite special. There may be grants available for such work, so contact it on 020 7377 1644 or info@spab.org.uk The local council housing office will have a list of property that is empty and for sale, while the banks tend to place their properties directly with an agent or at auction.
