CHILDREN born in September are three times more likely to become Premiership footballers than those born in July, according to the latest extraordinary research on the effect of birth dates.

A study of Premiership stars has found that out of 1,779 Englishmen to play in the topflight over the past 13 years, more than 40 per cent were born in September, October or November.
