BY THE time Graeme McDowell returns home next weekend to spend a traditional family Christmas at the house he bought for his parents, Kenny and Marian, in the Northern Ireland resort of Portrush, he will have flown more than 35,000 miles in less than two months.

His travels will have taken him from Britain to Spain, Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Los Angeles and finally Florida for his last assignment of the season. But that is nothing compared to the journey his golfing career has made in a year the 31-year-old will never forget.
