as well as selling 26 million albums, the Black Eyed Peas -- lead singer Fergie (Stacy Ferguson), the group founder Will.i.am (William Adams), Apl.de.ap (Allan Pineda Lindo) and Taboo (Jaime Gomez) -- have won three Grammys and become known as much for their political activism as for their hit singles. Their new album The E.N.D (short for 'The Energy Never Dies') is out now.

Will.i.am: I went graffiti spraying in my Bentley. At the start of 2008 I was feeling depressed, so I decided to head to the freeway to tag [spray]. I stopped under a bridge on Route 101 and wrote 'No' in big letters using a can of black paint. I'd almost finished when two cops arrived. I broke out running across the freeway, tripped and broke my fifth metatarsal bone.
