THE Mail on Sunday can today reveal an extraordinary link between the Al Qaeda general arrested in London last week and the IRA gang which carried out the 1984 Brighton bombing.

Armed antiterrorist officers who swooped on the London flat where MI5 cornered Osama Bin Laden's alleged British operations chief codenamed Bilal were raiding the same property used as a safe house by the IRA's Patrick McGee, who carried out the Brighton attack against Margaret Thatcher's Cabinet 20 years ago.
