After the brouhaha over The Beatles' reissues, we can expect a somewhat lower-key reception for remastered editions of the first two Big Star albums. Which seems fitting. It's their career repeated in microcosm.

These ardent Beatles fans, who simultaneously pioneered and transcended the style that would become known as power pop, made only three records in their brief original span; the last of which was issued long after their disintegration. None sold well. Or, initially, at all.
