Brown Refuses to Back Blair Over Eu Surrender

Summary


GORDON BROWN yesterday washed his hands of Tony Blair's plan to give in to demands by European leaders to force Britain to pay an extra Pounds 1billion a year into EU coffers.

The Chancellor pointedly refused to back the Prime Minister's controversial attempt to agree a new EU budget in return for surrendering the UK's rebate famously won by Margaret Thatcher in 1984.
