STEVE BRUCE began the new season by risking the wrath of the Football Association with an astonishing attack on rookie referee Anthony Taylor.
But the Sunderland boss did not confine his criticism to the 31- year-old official after a 2-2 draw with Birmingham at the Stadium of Light. He also blasted the policy of fasttracking young referees. It was Taylor's third Premier League match and, after seeing skipper Lee Cattermole sent off for two bookings, Bruce said: 'He was out of his depth.
