Carrier Deal Revives Tyneside Shipbuilding

NAVAL shipbuilding is returning to Tyneside after 13 years as its shipyards are set to win part of a multi-billion pound order for two aircraft carriers.

The contract is expected to be announced within two months and will create 700 jobs at two yards, McNultys in South Shields and AP Tyne at Hebburn, according to an industry source.
