CRUISING continues to be the great hope of the travel industry. While package holiday sales are in the doldrums, the shipping lines are going from strength to strength. Big new vessels have just been built or are under construction. The latest to be launched was Cunard's Queen Victoria, while P&O's Ventura and Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas will join the market in 2008.

It has been estimated that the UK cruise market will grow by 61 per cent over the next five years, with more than five million travellers saying they are now keen on the idea of taking their first holiday afloat.
