Summary
I READ Sophie Connor's letter (MoS, April 18) with a mixture of surprise and perplexity. Her contention was that if teachers decide to behave in a rude and discourteous manner, it's okay because it happens in the Dail every day. Does it? I would have thought the arguments in the Dail were part of the cut and thrust of political debate, which occasionally becomes overheated. Planned rudeness is entirely different.
Even if it did occur elsewhere, we were always taught that two wrongs don't make a right. Watching the teachers reverse roles with their most troublesome pupils and give the silent treatment and sulks to Mary Coughlan was a pathetic sight.See the full content of this document
