THE emergency budget is almost upon us but it holds no fears for some. TDs, senators and top public servants are looking forward to an extra E3,000 coming their way in a matter of weeks. Nicely timed that to offset some of the pain caused by heavier income taxes, PRSI increments, levies and whatever.
Of course, most of us don't have Long Service Increments (LSI) - a fancy name to dignify a public service sweetener that was bestowed by Charlie McCreevy in 2001 during the good times but which, in these bad times, are like a slap on the face to people who feel grateful just to have a job.See the full content of this document
