ISUPPOSE we all get into the habit, with age, of going to the same old places. For long hauls I always go to the West Indies, which I love dearly, but every year, for more than 20 years? That's surely a bit excessive, not to say distinctly lacking in imagination. For short hauls, it's almost always Portugal.

I know these places so well, how they work, their history, their shapes, what to order, so why change? Or so I tell myself.
