The pair say they 'couldn't stop shaking and shivering' in Polinter de Mesquita prison in a run-down district on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro which houses drug traffickers, robbers and murderers and is beset by gang violence - with foreigners said to be at particular risk. But when they were moved to a second prison, it was like entering 'the gates of hell'.
