ENGLAND'S clubs have reacted angrily to being blamed for the demise of the national team that saw head coach Andy Robinson lose his job five days' ago. It is a twist that bodes ill for any mutual development of the game in time for the 2011 World Cup.

The RFU's elite director of rugby, Rob Andrew, stressed last week that the whole structure of the game needs to change before England's top players can perform to their optimum, given the amount of club games the top players are required to play.
