Ecclestone Was Offered a Stake in Silverstone

JUST as Silverstone is putting its recovery plans to work having been stripped of the British Grand Prix, it has emerged that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone was offered a stake in the racetrack to persuade him to keep F1 there.

Earlier this year Silverstone's owner, the British Racing Drivers' Club, was rocked by the news that the Grand Prix would be held at Donington Park, Leicestershire, from 2010.
