TORRI EDWARDS, the American world 100 metres champion, may still compete in next month's Athens Olympics despite failing a drugs test in Martinique in April.

While her country's drugbusting authorities have taken a hard line with other competitors who have fallen foul of doping laws - and some who have not even failed tests - Edwards appears likely to receive lenient treatment.
