Thailand's Tony Jaa sprang on to the world cinema stage in 2003 with Ong-Bak, heralding a new martial-arts star to follow in the tradition of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
Jaa's fighting style was a concoction of disciplines, including Thai dancing, Muay Thai and kung fu, and his ambition was to come up with the most cinematic of looks for his martial arts battles.
