There probably isn't an award for the most violent British film ever, but if there were, then Doomsday (18) *** would win hands down and heads chopped off. It's an insanely gory, deranged, futuristic, fantasy, zombie, post-apocalyptic horror movie - but in a good way. I rather enjoyed its barmy thrills and bloody spills. And any film that roasts Sean Pertwee alive can't be all bad.

Tough heroine Rhona Mitra (a sulky ringer for Victoria Beckham) is sent into the dead zone of Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands to seek a cure for a virus that is zombie-fying what's left of London.
