IT WAS not the biggest disaster Tony Blair faced as Prime Minister but it was perhaps the most embarrassing. His son Euan, then 16, was arrested for collapsing on the pavement in Leicester Square just days after his father had proposed tough on-the-spot fines for exactly such drunken behaviour.

But the identity of Euan's companion that night in July 2000 has always remained a secret - until now. In his memoirs released last week, Mr Blair lets slip that he was called James and went on to be a Labour candidate in this year's General Election.
