THREE OF the biggest names in Argentine sport were in the town of Canuelas, an hour's drive from Buenos Aires, last week, for a unique sporting debut. Gabriel Batistuta was making his first appearance for the Loro Piana polo club alongside one of the world's finest players, Adolfo Cambiasso, while tennis star David Nalbandian was watching in the stands.
Batistuta, as you might expect, scored two goals on his debut but missed other chances to add to his tally. 'I was disastrous but I cannot change my character and I want to do well even if I am not a professional,' said Batistuta, who has spent his time since retiring in 2005 on his farming business in Santa Fe.See the full content of this document
