Fake Firms Foil Security

Summary


TIGHTER security at Companies House is under attack from fraudsters who pose as registry officials and try to steal firms' identities. Some customers have been called by criminals claiming to be from the register.

Directors have been asked to verify security codes needed to access the new electronic PROOF filing system. The register is under fire for the ease with which fraudsters can change a firm's address and order goods. This type of fraud is thought to cost the economy Pounds 50 million a year.
