TOM BOYD looked on in wonder as his teenage team-mate Phil ODonnell produced a goalscoring performance beyond his years to help Motherwell win the Scottish Cup in 1991. Boyd captained Well that day but the teams elder statesmen was Davie Cooper, whose calming presence helped ease ODonnell through his first Cup Final.
Today, Boyd is struggling to come to terms with the fact both his former colleagues are no longer with us. He had just watched another of his former clubs, Celtic, beat Gretna in the SPL when news filtered through that ODonnell had collapsed during Motherwells game against Dundee United at Fir Park.See the full content of this document
