SIR ALEX FERGUSON is seeking to nip any talk of it in the bud, but watching Cristiano Ronaldo over the past week has evoked less the King of Old Trafford and more the words of BB King: 'It does indeed start to look as if the thrill is gone.' First came Ronaldo's goal against West Bromwich Albion last weekend, which he barely celebrated, prompting talk there might be an emptiness in the player at the falling through of the mooted move to Real Madrid in the summer. There followed a muted midweek performance against Celtic in the Champions League.
