Summary

THE father who plunged off a balcony with his children has done nothing but sob since, crying: 'God forgive me. I'm so sorry. I've ruined so many lives.' John Hogan, 32, is so tormented by the horror in Crete, which left his six-year-old son Liam dead, he cannot think or speak of anything else, says a man who was in the next hospital bed to him last week.

Manos Athnaeioy, 43, said Hogan kept telling him at Heraklion hospital: 'I love my son. I love my children. I took them swimming. What have I done?' Mr Athnaeioy added: 'He just spent his days and nights staring at the walls and crying.' Hogan jumped 50ft from the balcony at the Petra Mare Hotel with Liam and daughter Mia, two, last Tuesday night after his wife Natasha apparently threatened to divorce him.
