ICE hockey fan Carl Smith got more excitement than he bargained for when he went on a fiftieth birthday trip to Canada to watch a big game.

Carl and his wife, Sally, and their sons Paul, 25, and Mark, 17, spent hours scouring the city for elusive tickets for the sell-out game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2007. He finally found a tout, who wanted Pounds 800 for four tickets.
