STEVEN GERRARD has played fewer games in central midfield than he would have liked this season, but I don't think Rafa Benitez or Steve McClaren are necessarily to blame. If Gerrard is looking for a reason, it may have something to do with the lack of outstanding wide players to fill those positions.
