DAVID GILLICK gave himself the perfect send off for the forthcoming IAAF World Championships in Berlin with a first ever victory in the 200 metres at the Woodies Irish Athletics Championships at a windy Santry Stadium yesterday.

But if Gillick had a smile on his face as wide as Dublin bay, it was no greater than that of Eileen O'Keeffe after she threw her longest distance of the season while winning a ninth consecutive women's hammerthrowing title.
