HUGH GRANT has confessed that he was drunk when he spent $3.6m at an auction on a painting of Elizabeth Taylor. He later sold it on - at a profit of more than $20m (E13.7m).
The actor was lauded as an art connoisseur when he bought the Andy Warhol work at Sothebys in 2001. Six years later, he was praised as a master of timing when he sold it at Christie's auction house in New York for $23.7m.
