J. J. writes: My house is a leasehold property. Between 1979 and 2000 I paid ground rent to an elderly lady who came to collect it. I have heard nothing since. Is there anything I should be doing about paying this rent? T. E. says: These situations are not uncommon when an individual owns a freehold estate from which a number of leasehold properties have been sold off.
