So we're having a rubbish summer, but the possibility of serving charred hamburgers to family and friends is still alluring. And for those not lucky enough to have a garden, even the most unpromisingly grim flat roof can be converted into a terrace big enough to wheel out a barbecue.
Before you do anything, check with your council's planning department planners are tightening up on roof terraces.
