Summary
Bruton, a medieval Somerset town, has long been associated with education. Bruton Abbey had its own school before the monasteries were closed between 1536 and 1541. King's School was refounded in 1550 during the reign of King Edward VI; Sexey's School springs from Hugh Sexey's imaginative charity, which established both the school and a hospital for old people after his death in 1619.
In 1993 a group of Bruton people decided to establish The Meadow School, which is one of about 30 schools in England run on Steiner principles.See the full content of this document
