HIBS manager John Hughes last night insisted the Easter Road club would have provided signing target Scott Arfield with the step-up his career needs.

Hughes failed in two bids to be reunited with the Falkirk youngster ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline but is expected to retain an interest in the highly-rated midfielder when the window reopens in January.
