THE John Lewis Partnership ignored warnings that its former textile divisions could collapse after they were sold off, leaving workers with no redundancy payment.

Carlisle-based Stead McAlpin and JH Birtwistle near Blackburn called in administrators four weeks ago after the failure of parent company Apex, who bought the John Lewis business in 2007.
