Back in 1924, Harry Grosberg started making the first breathable, waxed-cotton waterproof garments in a small factory in Longton, near Stoke-on-Trent. After more than 80 years, the Belstaff label has become a covetable style classic so much so that Kate Moss has given the brand her seal of her approval by appearing in Belstaff's autumn advertising campaign, photographed by David Sims.

'She is the ultimate Belstaff woman,' explains Michele Malenotti, the Italian marketing director of the cult brand. 'She also stands for a uniquely English sense of style, mixing history and modernity together in a very chic way. She is an icon, just like Belstaff.' Kate's endorsement certainly seals the brand's status as the epitome of cool, but she is the latest in a long line of high-profile names who are fans of Belstaff's utilitarian chic.
