FOR 100 years, we have come onto pitches after finals, to slap backs and gather together in euphoria. Gaels gather in friendship and joy on the pitch and thank God we are lucky enough to be there. Being on the Croke Park pitch with my parents, friends and neighbours in 1993 is something I will always treasure. It is an integral part of our culture, leaving us with great memories and unforgettable images.

After that epic Munster hurling final a few years ago, myself and Colm O'Rourke were out on the sacred turf pucking a sliothar about as the ecstatic Waterford people stayed on the pitch hugging each other and chatting. It was a delightful moment. Sadly, political correctness is about to put an end to it all.
