Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe There are very few things that stand the test of time. One of them is Leeds United. Now calm down, I'm not a massive football fanatic and this isn't going to be a pro-Leeds rant, but I am from Yorkshire, so when I found myself in the vicinity of Elland Road in a sports car the colour of the Leeds away strip, I thought I'd take the opportunity to pay my respects to the lads who tonked Man United so resoundingly that New Year weekend.

Let's not pretend Leeds have always been ace. They've had their high points and very, very low points, but they keep plugging on, which in a way is similar to Porsche, whose founder started out making cars and tanks for Hitler, saw them all blown up and then made a bold move into sports cars. His son came up with the 911 in the early Sixties and it's never been out of production since, despite being horribly tarred by association with yuppies halfway through its life. Ruthlessly consistent, Porsche's motto might as well be, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' - which in German is probably all one word.
