ASIDE from the fact that it is one of the world's greatest sports event, the Tour de France is a three-week long soap opera, with a cast of thousands playing support roles to the main actors - the men on bikes. And just as the love triangle is a staple in Corrie, every now and then the Tour throws up a love triangle of its own: two men supposedly wedded to the same team, but divided by a shared love: the yellow jersey.

It has looked pretty crowded in the Astana team this week. The seven-time Tour winner Lance Armstrong and this year's favourite, Alberto Contador, have been eying each other warily amid constant speculation about when the crockery will start to fly.
