I respect my husband a great deal. I don't mean that I admire every part of him any wife knows her husband too well to be a complete fan! There are always elements that you can criticise, and I certainly don't go in for, 'Oh, darling, you're so marvellous.' That's not what I offer. But my admiration for him is a big part of why I love him.

I understand my husband's need to work, and he understands mine. Our careers keep us apart a lot, and we tend to have big scheduling discussions: 'I'm going to be here in November, where will you be?' A six- or seven-week separation is OK, but when it turns into three months, it gets difficult. The worst part is that you start to get used to it, and then when you meet, you think, 'Yes, you're my husband, but who are you?' I hate it when that happens.
