ANYONE who thought after the publication of the Monageer report that they understood what led to the deaths of Adrian, Ciara, Lean and Shania Dunne will have to think again. Reading today's powerful, poignant interview with Adrian's mother, Mary, is sobering.

She does not try - and nor does this paper - to exculpate him for the crime of killing his two children and his wife. Yet one cannot help but be influenced by an account of a young man stricken with a hereditary blindness, traumatised by the loss of his father and deeply upset at having passed the blindness on to his own children. There are also disturbing claims of bullying of the family. It was often the casual playground taunts of children, yet words that would cut anyone to the core.
