IT WOULD HAVE been a notable night anyway at Citi Field last Sunday, what with ace pitcher Mariano Rivera engineering a run with a bat in his hands for the Yankees against their crosstown rivals the Mets.
With a ball in his hand this time minutes later, though, it became an evening for baseball's history books.
