Chapman was Jessica's first love and, during a seven-year relationship, they planned marriage and children together. But after the initial flush of romance Jessica began to see a different side to Chapman.

He started experimenting with drugs, became plagued by depression and developed a disturbing obsession with guns which culminated in Lennon's murder on the steps of New York's Dakota building on December 8, 1980.
