The gadgets I like best are the ones I make myself - bespoke toys. I have quite a few,' says multitalented, mega-rich producer, singer, songwriter and rapper Pharrell Williams, 34, handing me a BlackBerry 8800 swathed in so much gold it's actually quite difficult to lift. 'That's a cool thing, isn't it?' Williams - who says he's had gold versions of every BlackBerry model - holds up an even weightier-looking gold iPod. These aren't like the custom gold- plated gadgets you see in British luxury stores such as Bamford Sons. They're like gold bars with circuit boards and screens hammered into them.
'No way. I don't get companies to make these for me,' he says. 'I have them custom made. I have a Nintendo DS covered in gold. Right now I'm having my iPhone covered in gold - when it's done, that's going to be my favourite.'See the full content of this document
