THE fight to improve Scotland's terrible eating habits has long been one of the Executive's main goals.

As far back as 2000, Labour Health Minister Susan Deacon diverted Pounds 26 million raised from tobacco taxes to help foster healthy eating habits. Measures included a TV campaign fronted by celebrity chef Nick Nairn, with a dedicated information hotline to provide advice on better nutrition.
